About the Practice

Practice Philosophy

At You Fit Counseling, we know that reaching out for help isn’t easy — especially for those used to holding it together for everyone else. Whether you’re responding to emergencies or navigating everyday life, our goal is to make that step easier through a thoughtful, respectful, and collaborative approach to care.

We integrate the best evidence-based research, clinical experience, and your personal values to create a treatment experience that feels effective, authentic, and built around you.

Our Story

Founded by Lori Myers, LCSW — a combat veteran and clinician with deep roots in service culture — You Fit Counseling was created in 2020 to bring a more personal, accessible, and integrative approach to mental health for the Herkimer community and across New York State.

Lori’s mission has always been to remove barriers between people and their goals for emotional wellness. Her work with first responders, veterans, and families is grounded in cultural understanding, respect for confidentiality, and realistic tools that fit demanding schedules.

We value honest communication, accessibility, and mutual respect, whether you wear a uniform or not.

Our Approach

Your first appointment is a conversation, not an interrogation. We take time to understand your strengths, challenges, and the real-world factors — from shift work to family stress — that affect your well-being.

From there, we collaborate on a plan that fits your needs, lifestyle, and pace. Our goal isn’t just to treat symptoms or crises — it’s to help you prevent them, using tools that support long-term resilience, focus, and balance on and off duty.

We look at the whole person:
🧠 Mind  💪 Body  💫 Spirit  🌍 Environment

Our Commitment

We believe the best therapeutic relationship is a partnership — one built on respect, trust, and teamwork. You bring your story, experience, and goals; we bring clinical expertise, tactical tools, and perspective. Together, we build a plan that makes sense for your world.

The heart of our philosophy is simple:

Therapy should fit you — not the other way around.
